Hey there, 2011!

2011 is off to a heckuva start!
We’ve got work in the pipeline for Web Foundation, NuLayer, Jet Cooper, blogTO, and a whole host of other great companies and people. Everything from desktop to Web to mobile apps.
We’re pretty well settled in our new Richmond and Spadina office space.
And we just received word that our (Jon Lax and I) Abolish the Hourly, How Value Pricing Wins Clients SXSW talk has been accepted, so we’ll be sharing some success stories with the world come March.
Events for the week of December 13 to December 19.
With all the holiday season events on the go, let’s take the time out to focus on one that affects us all locally, HoHoTO. Now in its third year, HoHoTO has been focused on raising money for Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank, an organization for which I’ve volunteered in the past and one that Say Yeah has been supporting with each of our HoHoTO sponsorships over the past few years. And each year the annual event at the Mod Club has sold out with increasingly greater dollars and donations making their way directly to the Daily Bread Food Bank.
With the event coming up this Thursday evening I see there are still tickets remaining and would like to encourage everyone to show their support, whether they can attend or not (either way, you’re donating to a great cause).
Events for the week of November 29 to December 5.

As we swing into December’s holiday season, the list of things to do is going to grow exponentially. From workday seminars to afternoon holiday get together’s, and evening soirées, including our favourite event of the season, HoHoTO. We’ll focus on highlighting a few of these events throughout the month that are worth juggling your schedule around.
Events for the week of November 22 to 28.

This week is super busy as we approach the holiday season. Apart from the whack of daytime work events to explore on the TO Events Calendar, fundraising and evening socials dominate the calendar this week.
The week began Monday with the #pepsitweetup, celebrating all the great Canadian initiatives Pepsi is supporting in 2010. There was a chance at the event to show what you care about. And whether you have an environmental, cultural, health, educational or arts project you’d like to tackle in 2011, be sure to submit your idea for funding to the Pepsi Refresh Project.
This week also prevents us with the Movember Gala Thursday evening. You’ll be able to catch me there in support of Prostate Cancer Canada. Even if you can’t make it, you can still donate to our fundraising team here. With over $1500 raised, we’re pretty happy with this year’s efforts and I’ve noticed a real jump in awareness from last year.
Also, Matt will be at tonight’s Sproutup, so be sure to say hi.
And feel free to join me at People Downtown’s Tequila Monthly this Friday evening as we celebrate world electronic music and the relaunch of indianelectronica.com.
Lots more on the go
As always, you can find all the great weekly events on Yeah Social’s TO Events Calendar. And feel free to add your choice events to the TO Events Calendar or reach out to us with some suggestions so we can keep everyone up to date.
Events for the week of November 8 to 14.

We were a little quiet with publishing last week, somewhat distracted planning our somewhat private Movember fundraiser, which took place this past Thursday. To make up for that, we’re dubbing this week Movember week and will be sharing Movember related treats all week long. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, this week presents a number of healthy event options for design geeks, tech nerds, startups, change agents, science nerds and gamers. See you out there!
And, if you’d like to help support Prostate Cancer Canada, you can donate to our team, The Beards, here.
Events for the week of November 1 to 7.

This week is all about marketing with day and evening events happening throughout the week. Here’s a rundown:

Lots more on the go
As always, there’s more to see on the full calendar. Be sure to check out all the events on Yeah Social’s TO Events Calendar. And feel free to add your choice events to the TO Events Calendar or reach out to us with some suggestions so we can keep everyone up to date.
Erin was kind enough to mention the Yeah Social TO Events Calendar (formerly the Say Yeah TO Events Calendar, but clearly too many name changes and long URLs for people to make any sense of that) in her article: The best resources for finding local startup/social media events.
There are some other great suggestions in the article. One that I’d add to the mix is to Like the Facebook pages of those companies who throw your favourite events (like Sprouter or Say Yeah!). Then check your event invites weekly and you’ll be sure to find some more great events.
As always, if we’re missing anything on the TO Events Calendar, you can log in to Yeah Social to add your favourite Toronto events.
